The
Perinatal Counseling Services Program
Perinatal Council Family Advocates sometimes refer their clients
to our counseling services. Counseling helps clients learn
to build healthy relationships and strengthen their skills
in communication, parenting, assertiveness, anger management,
stress management, grief, and problem solving. Because many
of our clients are not familiar with one-to-one counseling,
Family Advocates and counselors often work together to help clients
feel more comfortable with the counseling process. We mkae counseling more available by offering to provide services in-home to those who are not able to come in to our office.
By talking with our professional counselors, clients can identify
areas of concern and develop plans for resolving issues that
are affecting their ability to lead a satisfying life. Clients
apply the skills they learn in counseling to become better
parents and partners, complete their education, find jobs,
and participate in society.
Our clients benefit from counseling, and they pass the benefits
on to their children. Clients who receive counseling say they
feel better about themselves and are more able to take care
their children. They get along better with family and friends,
and their home life becomes more peaceful and rewarding. As
a result of these changes, their children feel more secure
are more likely to succeed in school and in the community.
